The Vastly Untalented Singer Who's Never Late
, New York, NY

One of my claims to fame is that I’m never late. I have chalked this up, without the aid of a therapist, to an extreme reaction to the fact that my Mother is always late. Growing up, this meant I was late for things all the time. And I was very embarrassed by that fact. Before there were cell phones, if you didn’t have a watch on, you had to pray that there’d be some large clock on a wall somewhere to give you an indication of the time. (More often than not, no such clock could be found.)
Sure, you could always ask a stranger – but most people don’t like being stopped while they’re lugging home ice cream or pushing a stroller with a crying kid. Now, the need is eliminated. With our handy cell phones, have we possibly even outgrown the need for a watch? You tell me.
I say that they’re still very pretty, they work great as an accessory, and taking a quick peak at your wrist is much simpler than subtly pulling our your sparkly pink cellphone in the middle of a serious business meeting. But that’s just me. And as you now know, I just hate being late. So I take no chances when it comes to passing on a watch. Right now I love large, semi-traditional (with a twist) watches. (Psst, looks like I’m not the only one with a love of tortoise shell!)
My favorite Fall 2008 Watch picks are:
Remember you NYC dolls, you have just one more day for this sale. If you can’t make it, you have until August 29th for the Makin Hat Sample Sale! Need an idea for what to look for? Try this inspiration!
Now I need to go hop on the treadmill to train for future shopping excursions and sales because the key is endurance (well, and patience). I plan to blast the Mamma Mia! soundtrack, so if you’re my neighbor – cover your ears, I’ll be singing!
Much love,
Sofia
