Green Monday: To Shop or Not to Shop?

0
11 December 2010

The most important thing to know about Green Monday is that it is not a significant day for consumer deals. Patience is still the key. If you see a great deal, take it, but if you don’t, there’s still two more weeks to order online and still get free shipping at many stores, either because the store is doing it automatically or because there are coupon codes.

What even is Green Monday? It’s the second Monday before Christmas and, until 2009, was the biggest online shopping day of the year. Why? Mainly because retailer’s overhyped fears about holiday shipping deadlines lead shoppers to believe it was there last shot at free shipping. It’s not!

Retailer’s are so much better at extending shipping deadlines until late on 12/22 or 12/23 and many offer free expedited shipping, even at the last minute. That’s why last year Green Monday fell all the way to the 5th most important day of the year.

Besides, deals traditionally get better as Christmas grows closer and are always fantastic the week after.
