Try Some One Piece Swimwear for 08

There’s no need to get rid of your bikini’s. But that’s really not the only swimsuit choice you have this summer. For 2008, we’re going for retro glam in one piece bathing suits. Marilyn Monroe is widely accepted as having been a national sex symbol (how’d you like to put that on your resume, yikes!) and she wore one piece bathing suits. And she rocked them. So why do you think you can’t?

If you want to imitate this retro look, try the Ruched Vamp One-Piece by Jantzen at Macy’s for $100.00. It’s available in a bold red, or a classic black or white. The sides ruch the bodice of the suit which help conceal any ‘tummy trouble’ aka problem spots you might have. People’s eyes will be drawn away from your midsection, anyway – and focus on your bare shoulders and legs. (#2)

To follow this trend while still being daring, I would try Ralph Lauren’s Cut-Away One-Piece at Macy’s for $117.00. If the deep V-neck isn’t daring enough for you, just take a look at the cut away sides. Have you ever heard that it’s what you don’t show that can be sexier than what you do show? I’m not trying to give some lame public service announcement here, I mean it. I think wearing this can be sexier than wearing a bikini. (#1)

Bloomingdales has the Miraclesuit “Sonatina” One-Piece for $124.00. You may want to splurge on this when you hear that this suit is designed especially to help hide any extra lbs you haven’t lost from swimming (or the treadmill inside while you watch DVDs) yet!

Anthropologie has the Botticelli One-Piece for $178.00. It has what I find to be a very interesting all-over shell print on it. If I buy this, I know I’ll wear it for a long time. (#3)

If you shop the collection of suits at jcrew.com you’ll find a huge array of one piece bathing suits. I’m particularly drawn to the Rapallo ring-print halter tank for $85.00 in burnished yellow – which is good, since they’re sold out of the orange! (#4)

Ciao for now,

Jessica
