Tibi Sample Sale Review 11/9

Tibi: The sample sale of skirts and silk. Say that ten times real fast. On the ground floor of Happy Monkey Studios in Midtown, Tibi presents an abundance of styles fresh from the department stores. I nodded in agreement as I walked by the sign boasting  “The Essentials at an Unbelievable Price,” after taking notice to the dresses, skirts, and blouses that most likely can still be seen in Bloomingdales and Nordstrom, except for a fraction of the price (up to 70% off!).

The sale matches the brand: feminine and neat while maintaining uniqueness. Employees of Tibi rush to tidy up after each customer, constantly arranging the racks into a perfect, symmetrical fashion. Anyone who is familiar with Tibi knows what amazing pieces they have to offer. Each rack is arranged by price, which could feature anything from a sweater to a cropped silk top. In the middle of the room is a row of boxes reading its content’s sizes and price (XS-L, $75 & $125). For the most part, what’s found inside these boxes doesn’t vary; it is merely the same three sweaters in different colors and sizes, although I’m not complaining. One of my favorite items of the sale happened to be the cheapest (we all know this never happens). The Chunky Scoop Sweater in Blush $75 (pictured) is amazingly feminine and stylish, screaming Zooey Deschanel. Its cropped cut and wool blend is the perfect way to feel beautiful in the covered up days of winter. Also available in all sizes is the Long Topper Sweater $125 (pictured) in tan, cream, and navy blue, featuring either a hook closure or zip.

Delicate colors engulf the room as you browse dresses, blouses and skirts to die for. The lovely One Shoulder Silk Dress $225 in Antique Pink (pictured) is available in sizes 2-8, as is the Capped Sleeve Winter White short dress $225 that would be stunning to wear to your upcoming holiday parties. Also at their side was a single offering of a medium sized Pleated Sweater Dress in Oatmeal $225 (pictured). Silk blouses occupy a fair amount of room, mainly in the same short cut, dusted colors, burgundies and blues $145. A Red Silk Puffed Sleeve Onesie $145 is a unique piece I kept returning to for sheer nostalgia, reminiscing of the times my mother forced me into similar uncomfortable tops as a child. The Cobalt Blue Rayon Pleated Mid Length Skirt $115 was hiding in the back left corner, well out of eye sight and well stocked in sizes 4-8. This incredibly soft skirt has potential of being a season favorite – its comfortable, bold and a must have!

Let’s not forget about the boxes of swimwear for only $15! Women were going crazy for Tibi’s traditional prints and noteworthy bikinis that swam mismatched in boxes labeled by their sizes (XS-S). Lace, cotton and silk cover-ups $25 rested at their side.

If you love feminine style that feature a distinctive look, then this is your sale. Get ready to spend because I can almost guarantee you’ll fall in love with at least one piece, if not all of them! Also, if you decide to splurge, you receive a free Tibi Pouch when you spend $1,000 (which is entirely too easy to do).
