They're Baaack!!! ANTM Cycle 9 Starts tonight!

It’s been one long summer, but finally Wednesdays are once again days to which we can look forward, because America’s Next Top Model is back! Thirteen new girls will be cat-fighting for the title starting tonight. I know that there are a lot of haters out there, who say that ANTM is a stupid show and that the girls never really amount to anything. Personally, I think this is due to some short-sightedness among designers, who think they are too cool to have an ANTM girl work for them, when really it would be to their advantage. ANTM fans want to see their favorites in magazines and on TV–so using an ANTM girl would only generate more exposure for the designer. But, alas, some designers think their too good for that….

Other designers, on the other hand, are smart enough to see ANTM as a viable marketing vehicle, and have been featured on the show. To name just a few: Baby Phat (remember Cycle 1 when Kimora Lee Simmons was a judge?), Wonderbra, Heatherette, Victorio & Lucchino (remember Cycle 7 and the “ghost brides” runway show, where Caridee ripped Melrose’s dress and Melrose cried?), and most recently Sass & Bide. Eugena from Cycle 7 now models for Southpole (and looks good doing it) and I swear I saw Caridee in a JC Penny ad in last month’s Glamour. Jaslene modeled for Tempo, and there are rumors that she’ll be the new face of Eve’s Fetish line. Jaslene has also expressed a desire to be the next Victoria Secret Angel–which in her case would meaning gaining some weight, ‘cuz homegirl ain’t got no chest.

Personally, I can’t wait to see how tonight’s girls measure up. I can’t wait, period! Less than four hours to go!
