There's No Gray Matter in Summer '08

Two of our most famous Hollywood Legends made splashes in black and white. Marilyn Monroe’s iconic white dress defines her image so many places. Meanwhile, Audrey Hepburn (my personal idol during my teenage years) wore a black dress in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. And these days? We’re still anything but gray. We’re standing out in black and white. With good reason, to boot.

Forget little black books and little white lies, let’s just deal with fashion. Black and white – is it really a current trend? Well…yes and no. I say that because, yes, magazines are spouting that it’s a trend for now. But I also must say no, because when isn’t black and white in style?! I believe that it is always appropriate, always chic, you can’t go wrong with these colors.

So, we can all take advantage of the abundance of great pieces that are out now, since it’s ‘trendy’. Stock up on black and white items, because you’ll always wear them.
Random note: You know, although stylista Carrie Bradshaw wore an evolving abundance of (mostly) great outfits during the course of Sex and the City, one of my absolute favorites was a graphic-printed black and white dress. I ended up sketching that particular dress in a notebook for days. That’s what happens when I’m smitten. I’m a smitten kitten! And speaking of kittens…
I was on Kitty Vintage when I came across a delicious Samuel Winston printed silk crepe dress from the 1950’s. Then, I was on C’est La Mode and saw a YSL Resort dress in the same color combo.

So, now it’s time to see what else is out there, okay? The goal is not penguin-esque, although zebra print is encouraged.
