The New Makeup Trends to Look Younger

When the delightfully charming (that was the phrase I jotted down at the time, and I still remember why, so I guess also add ‘memorable’!) Smashbox Celebrity Makeup Artist Charlie Green was on CBS News a while back giving tips on how mature women can achieve a more youthful look, I paid careful attention. It’s never too early to learn makeup tricks that I’ll want to use as I age. Also, I believe these methods work just as well for a woman of 25 (like me) as for a woman of 35, 45, 55 – and so on.

She cited three specific suggestions: ONE: A foundation that is not matte, but will help you glow. TWO: Making blush a must-have, and using a cream-based type of blush for more glow. THREE: And finally, sticking with this formula – you want to use a lip product that has a pale, pearly-shine finish. Apparently lips DO shrink as you age, and just like you’d paint a small room a light color so it doesn’t seem smaller, you want to use a light color on your lips so they don’t look smaller than they are. It doesn’t have to be a lip gloss that you use (even I’m kind of over glosses), lipsticks are now made with creamy, shiny formulas that glide on your lips and feel wonderfully wearable.
