Brazilian Blowout“Miraculous!” “Life-changing!” “Absolutely amazing!” Those are some of the comments women are making about the Brazilian Blowout. You might have heard about the latest craze in hair, because it seems to be the talk of the town. Celebrities and beauty mavens are going crazy for the latest addition to Keratin treatments. But, what exactly is the Brazilian Blowout all about? How does it work and what are some of the cons?

Read on.

Curly and frizzy hair is caused by porosity in the hair. The little gaps in the hair make it easy for hair to curl and frizz and also causes hair to absorb moisture from the air. This explains why humidity is hair’s worst enemy! The Brazilian Blowout, like other keratin treatments, coats your tresses with a protein enriched smoothing formula which closes those gaps leaving hair 80% less porous and sleek. Helping hair stay smooth, lay flat and humidity-proof. The blowout can cost anywhere from $200-$500 and results lasts up to 12 weeks.

The process is simple and starts with your stylist washing your hair 4-6 times. This helps remove all the dirt and grime from your hair and roughen up your hair a little to help the serum really sink in. After washing, the stylist will apply the Brazilian keratin serum to your hair then blow-dry your hair. Once your hair is dry the stylist will go over the hair with a flatiron helping to seal the formula into your hair. After the process is complete, your hair will be pin straight and glossy as ever. Unlike other Keratin treatments, the Brazilian Blowout allows you the option to wash your hair right away and do not contain formaldehyde. When you do wash your hair for the first time after your Brazilian blowout you should notice that your hair is extremely smooth and polished rather than curly and unruly. Although your hair will not be stick-straight after your wash it will look as if you had “done” your hair. When you do blow-dry your hair you will notice how manageable your hair has become and you should also notice an impressive shininess to your hair.

The Brazilian Blowout will save you much time while primping in the morning and will give you an edge against humidity. If your a recessionista and would like to save $200-$400 on this trendy treatment check Groupon.com or consider getting a Brazilian Blowout at a beauty school where students perform the same exact treatment and are supervised by certified trainers. Another option is to sit as a hair model at ritzy salons and have the service done by junior stylists who would like to advance. They too, are supervised by lead stylists.

We have published this article last week. The same week the product came under scrutiny in Canada and in the US. I came across several articles, this is a segment from an article in Fashionista.com today: “…..After salon workers in Oregon complained of eye irritation, nose burning, and difficulty breathing, the Oregon Health & Science University’s Center for Research on Occupational and Environmental Toxicology tested the formula. Their results indicated that the solution contained between 4.85 and 10.6% formaldehyde. Some salons have voluntarily pulled the product, but the FDA has made no official statement yet.” I will come back with news on that.
