0 WHAT: Essex Street Market Block Party
WHY: We’re celebrating Essex Street Market’s 76th birthday with a good ol’ fashioned Block Party! That’s right, we’re bringing out the pushcarts, astroturf, grills and picnic tables so you can get a taste of Essex Street Market — plus, some of our favorite Lower East Side restaurants are joining the party, including: Pies ‘n’ Thighs, Grey Lady, Cafe Katja, The Fat Radish/The Leadbelly, and Ice & Vice, who will be pulling out all the stops and creating a specialty ice cream flavor inspired by the Market.
This is a true neighborhood bash: grilling, chilling, and jamming — what more do you need? And for all our history buffs out there, Turnstile Tours will be offering FREE Market tours on the half hour, so you can learn more about Essex Street Market’s past, present and future in the new space.
Market vendors such as Saxelby Cheesemongers, Arancini Bros., Puelba, and Osaka Grub can’t wait to show off their warm-weather fare. Did we mention there will be live music and majority of food items for $5 and under? In addition to all of that, we’ll have DJ Deja, DJ Kai Song and DJ Kyle on the decks so don’t leave home without your dancing shoes!
