We made it. It’s Friday! And next week, whether you observe Passover or Easter, you’ll be celebrating something. Let’s quickly go over the things I’ll be keeping an eye on these next couple of days.
Starting Friday, March 22nd at 12PM:
Derek Lam & 10 Crosby at Gilt.com
Why?
OK, so he might not be my favorite designer, but everybody else adores him, so I will most certainly check out this sale. I love his idea of modern interpretation of classic silhouettes, so hopefully I’ll find that piece that will make me see what Anna and Michelle see in him. I love discovering new designers at discounted prices. I feel it reduces my anxiety knowing that at least I paid less. Note: always check if that particular item is returnable, as not all items on a particular flash site have the same return policy.
Starting Sunday, March 24th at 8PM:
Sunday Night STYLEATHON at RueLaLa.com
Why?
Because honestly, that’s where the real bargains are. It is also the element of surprise, as you never know what you’ll find. It’s the real “Bargain Games,” shall we say, darlings. Plus, after a long weekend, a little adrenaline rush gets us pumped and ready for the Monday morning commute.
Starting Monday, March 25th at 11AM:
Givenchy handbags at RueLaLa.com
Why?
You know my theory: invest in IT handbags because they last forever.
I don’t know if you are a Givenchy girl, but if Nightingale, Pandora or Lucrezia satchels are your style, you might want to add this sale to your calendar. However, before you invest in one of these handbags (or anything else for that matter) take a look at your lifestyle and wardrobe first. Make sure the item is what you need, not what you want.
Why?
If you happen to be a corporate girl — and a fan of Nicole Miller but cannot make it to their March 26th New York Sample Sale — this is your chance to score some print tops for work or halter dresses for business dinners. For me, it will also be an opportunity to test prices for flash sales/New York sample sales, as holding both at the same time has become a trend.
Have fun this weekend. Don’t hate me; I’ll be in CT at our country home for a long weekend.

Fashion is clearly the highlight of any runway show, but never forget about the thoughtful hair and makeup that completes the designer’s full concept. Below are four fall 2013 NYFW beauty trends that you can wear tomorrow.
Let us know what your favorite (and least favorite) beauty/hair/fashion trends were in the comment section below.
Dramatic Indigo Eyes
Christine over at the Hair Romance blog shared a series of her favorite fall 2013 NYFW beauty trends, and among them were Jason Wu’s dramatic, bluish-purple eyes. The look was done by makeup artist Diane Kendal, who used a lilac on the center of the eyelid for a little bit of dimension. Kendal also applied a smudgy line of color underneath the eyes and up toward the brow for a futuristic, winged effect.
Berry Pouts
While a deep, red oxblood hue adorned the lips of models on last year’s fall runways, this year it was all about berries. For example, Rachel Zoe and Derek Lam showcased berry-stained lips, as did Vera Wang. Check out the tutorial by The Platform on Youtube that shows you how to create a sleek and simple makeup look with berry lips.
Velvety Skin
ChickAdvisor‘s Alexandra was particularly fond of the velvety, au naturel skin worn by Fall 2013 NYFW models. Highlighting and contouring was kept to a minimum, she writes, as was blush. The key to achieving a velvety finish is to apply a primer before a tinted moisturizer or BB cream and then blend, blend, blend. Only apply heavy foundation or concealer where you truly need it and allow the rest of your skin to breath.
Art Deco Nails
Sahra Schukraft at Feminspire gushed over the Fall 2013 NYFW nails. “At NYFW it’s all about creating something unique, something that’s your own,” she said. For example, DKNY and The Blonde’s adorned their models’ hands with spikes, chains and an assortment of bells and whistles. Also spotted were dark, earthy browns and murky greens very reminiscent of scenic woodlands.
