Summer Style Idea: Conservative Mellow Yellow Tops and Neutral (short) Shorts

Balance is key in life. Want to rock super short shorts? You can do it. But since you’re showing so much leg, tone down what other skin you bare. I’m enamored with the idea of mellow hued yellow tops with shorts in a neutral color like olive green, khaki/beige or an earthy light brown. It’s a tiny bit ‘safari‘ – but not totally.

Since not everyone wants to be mellow, a bright yellow top works just as well. Look for details on the top like embroidery or ruffles. Jewelry-wise, either wear a couple long necklaces, or skip necklaces altogether and slip a chunky cuff bracelet on one of your wrists. Gold will add an understated elegance to this outfit and compliment the colors.

3. Ruffled Jersey Shell by Tracy Reese at Nordstrom ($100.00). Avoid a top like this if you have a large chest, it’ll look too comical.
