Stuart & Wright Samples Sale Review 2/3
, New York, NY
Brooklyn might be catching up to Manhattan as far as the breadth of shopping options goes, but the borough of Kings still lacks the depth of sample sales as its sibling across the water. Perhaps that’s why the current Stuart & Wright sale is such a breath of fresh air.
Housed in a refurbished dry cleaners, Stuart & Wright is airy and arty – exactly what you’d expect from a Brooklyn shop known for its boho glam pieces. The well-curated selection is worth the trip from Manhattan, but the vibe is all Brooklyn and, at this sale at least, so are the prices. A green and gold Lewis Cho knit tunic ($59) is demure, save for the studs at the neck, which give it a bit of tough girl bite. Cho’s line is well represented here: don’t miss the ultra-cozy sweater dress ($89), which looks like a refugee from The Ice Storm in the best way possible. Sweaters are strong in general here: don’t miss the white and pink lambswool number by A. Cheng ($79) – the pattern is almost little-girl, but the shrunken cut is all adult.
Jeans are another high point: a pair of sexy white Acne hiphuggers is $63 (from $249) and a plethora of cult favorite Martin denim is all $50. Pair them with the sale’s classic shoe collection: a pair of black No. 6 clog boots ($195 from $390) are equally at home among the strollers of Park Slope or the serious shoppers in the Meatpacking District, and a pair of to-die-for APC oxblood moccasins is a steal at $193 from $385. In the market for a drop-dead sexy dress? Don’t miss the raw silk Myth Ritual teal slip dress – at $59, it’s a great deal.
WHEN: 2/3 – 2/6, Th-Sat (10-8), Sun (noon-6)
