WHAT: Steampunk 2010 Fashion Show And Exhibition

WHY:The Victorian era meets science-fi-like futuristic fashion at this third annual fete hosted by the Brooklyn Indie Market. For $5, you can peruse this one-stop shop for steampunk-inspired goods, such as Karen von Oppen fingerless gloves ($20), La China Loca faux-suede headpieces with feather details for $55 (formerly $105) and Ami Nyitray charm necklaces ($150). There’s even a literary corner, where book nerds can enjoy complimentary tea and scones while listening to readings from authors like G.D. Falksen, Felix Gilman and Leanna Renee Hieber (11am–4pm). Stick around for a fashion show (4pm) featuring the work of Berit New York, Kristin Costa and other indie designers.
