Sixties Groove

The Sixties are back…again. This isn’t the first time that clothes from the 1960s have come back in style, but 2007 IS the 40th anniverary of the Summer of Love. So, this time we are obligated by history to take this comeback seriously. That means bell bottoms, big sunglasses a la Jackie O (or Gloria Stienem, depending on what side of the fence you were on) and crochet bikinis. A crochet bikini has a sweet, bohemian, homemade look that’s made for hours of frolicking, flower-child style. Ralph Lauren makes a lovely crochet bikini that comes in aqua or indigo (I like the aqua) but to be truly groovy you’ll need a suit of many colors. Like BCBG Max Azria’s brown striped bikini, or Rusty Brook’s St. Crochet Bikini. Or for a suit that matches all of your white eyelet dresses, go for a crochet bikini in solid white, like this one by Mossimo. Get one before it gets hot! But make sure you have plenty of sunblock! I may be latina but I still use plenty of sunblock, girl!
