Shorts Go from Beachwear to Business Chic

Remember when you were little and wanted to wear your Little Mermaid shorts to church, but your mom said “No way”? Or when you turned your old jeans into cutoffs and got in trouble for wearing them at school? And now that you’re all grown up you wouldn’t dare to wear shorts to work. But times are changing, and if you go with a nice, chic, cuffed short, there’s no reason why you can’t wear shorts anytime you want, including during business hours.

On a budget? Start with shorts by the Gap. Gap’s striped clean roll-up shorts will give you a nice office friendly look, but won’t cost you alot. Diane von Furstenberg makes a slightly longer version, in stretch cotton. And if it’s a super special company picnic you’ve got coming up, go for the Joie “After it All” cuffed shorts at Bloomingdales. (Just be sure not to get any grass stains on them!) I really think this trend is a step forward for the working woman. There’s no reason why one should be uncomfortable when the air conditioning breaks down, is there?
