Rug Burn
Carini Lang is clearing out their vault
, New York, NY
Nothing screams cold front like waking up and planting your legs toe first onto cold hardwood. So in preparation for this chilly autumn turning into a frigid winter, rug shop Carini Lang is clearing out their vault (no joke as the store sits inside a one-time bank) and rolling out their finest Nepalese-made home wares.
Known for its ethical minded sensibilities, the nearly decade-old store has garnered a cult following (the likes of Numb3rs star Rob Morrow, Kelsey Grammer, and architect Maya Lin) thanks to its natural dyed designs produced with sustainability as a focus. But it was far more difficult feat from conception to actualization as the co-owners of Carini Lang found vegetable dyes of the olden days a lost art in Nepal due to the popularity of chrome dyes. It took a two year stint spent finding the right Nepalese craftspeople and developing their “grandmother’s cookbook” of sorts filled with natural dye ingredients to create a winning recipe. Since then, Carini Lang has shown that all-natural doesn’t have to read drab and neutral. Their hand-woven carpet collections run the gamut from contemporary stripes to bold tiger prints that look akin to hide. Whether your tastes skew mod or modest, there is sure to be a statement making piece within their archives fit for your space.
So be sure to make it to their annual autumn sale where pieces are expected to go for as much as 70% off markdowns. And just because it’s a sale doesn’t mean items will be sold as-is. Carini Lang will also offer after-sale services which include alterations, delivery, installation, and the addition of an eco-friendly rug pad for an extra fee. Sale prices start at $1,500 and up.
