While we were busy searching for the next designer to feature on Studio Gluck, Racked NY

was present at the Malo/Vivienne Westwood sample sale that started on April 17th and will run through the 22nd.For those of you looking for a full recap of the best bits, here are the facts:

The Brands:

A high-end Italian label known for the extraordinary quality of its cashmere, Malo has extended its fashion enterprise to include full collections for men and women. That’s reflected in the current sample sale, with a very good selection available (cashmere, suede cargos, angora cardigans, silk skirts and cocktail dresses to name a few).

The Vivienne Westwood Anglo-Punk collection – known for its signature tartan and bold prints – rarely has any sample sales so this is a rare occasion you won’t want to miss out on. Although it has less merchandise on show than Malo, it is definitely worth checking out, especially for the accessories, shoes and the handbags in particular.

The Discounts:

For the Malo women’s collection, prices are 70-80% off marked retail prices. Do the math, you could make some serious savings here. Their cashmere pullovers and cardigans start at $700 and run to about $1000, suede skinny cargos are $1375, printed skirts $575, blouses $775, and cocktail dresses $2,000.

The flamboyant Malo menswear collection is also 70-80% off. Pants range from $600 to $900, tees are $170, polos $600, and wovens range from $600 to $1000.

Vivienne Westwood items are 60% off marked retail prices. The bags – which are spectacular and available in large number at this sale – start at $600 and most seem to be retailing around the $800 mark.

The Steals:

There are a few racks of Malo “as is” items priced at $49.99 – for designer wear of this stature, there is no other term for this than an absolute steal.

Shoes without their boxes are priced at $70, while shoes in their boxes are a whopping 70% off retail and are generally selling for prices in the region of $600.
