Priscilla of Boston Samples Sale Review 3/16

The current Priscilla of Boston sample sale isn’t for everyone: the majority of the dresses are size 6 or 8 and they’re true samples, which means, among other things, dirty trains, makeup stains on the inside of dresses, and loose beading. Most of this, however, is nothing a good dry cleaner and a great tailor can’t fix and the bargains are excellent. Truly, there are deals here for every kind of wedding.

If You’re Getting Married In a Ballroom: Try a Priscilla of Boston Platinum A-line gown in heavy satin. The bodice sparkles with hundreds of beads, as does the extra-long train. The dress is crazy figure flattering, designed to make your waist look teeny tiny without the discomfort of a corset. At $3480 (marked down from $6975), this is a hot deal.

If Your Wedding Is In a Garden: Why should the real flowers get all the attention? Join in on their glory with a sexy Priscilla of Boston number with a bodice overlaid in heavy floral lace ($1838 from $3675). The neck dips into a deep sweetheart and the silhouette is a flattering (and not too extreme) fit and flare. Perfect for the bride who’s traditional, but unique.

If You Follow Fashion Trends: Short dresses are all the rage, and this sale features a few great contenders. Most notable is a flirty cocktail-length Melissa Sweet ($1034 from $2075). The skirt is pleasantly pouffy (very retro!) and the v-neck in the front and back is adorned with some seriously sparkly (but not too blingy) beading. This would be divine with some sky-high bright shoes.

For the True Romantic: A Melissa Sweet tulle dress ($2175 from $4350) is a stunner. The structured tulle bodice wouldn’t be out of place on a Greek goddess and the flowing skirt is flattering on any figure. Pair it with a beaded headband and soft curls for a look right out of a Jane Austen novel.

Best for a Beach Wedding: The sale’s best deal just might be a perfect Melissa Sweet tiered dress with a tulle overlay. The soft layers are romantic and sweet without slipping into the overt casualness cliche to beach weddings. Best of all, it’s only $925 (from $1850).

I purchased the bottom right Melissa Sweet dress. it does wonders to the figure but it has a high neckline and straps. I happen to like the straps because of the confort but they are thick and the neckline is high which, kind of makes the dress a littlebit christian for my taste. any ideas on what kind of accessories would spice up this dress? I always envisioned myself with shoulder dusters but now I think it might be too much for the dress.
    Please advise.
