My Three Favorite Perfumes for NOW

I’m particularly picky when it comes to fragrances. Finally, I have an absolute favorite. One that I think will last me the course of my life. The funny thing is, it was my Dad who picked it up and said ‘what about this one?’ My Dad doesn’t even wear cologne, but somehow he struck some major gold when he reached for this. I gave him a doubtful look, but I smelled the test bottle – and I was in shock.

Usually I find scents too powerful, too soapy, too generic – like I said, I’m picky! But this was, well, it was as if I were Goldie Locks and that one was just right. Or rather, perfect. So, am I going to reveal the name? Of course. It’s Euphoria by Calvin Klein ($29.00-$70.00), available at Macy’s.

There are different aspects to every female’s personality, though. I’m a tremendously big fan of Sex and the City and Sarah Jessica Parker. But that loyalty alone does not guarantee that I’ll buy what she endorses, or even makes. But it was with a happy sigh that I first smelled Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker.
It’s pretty, romantic (but not cloyingly so), delicate – and it comes in a precious pale pink bottle. I’m sold! I do have a weakness for pink. It’s available from Nordstrom ($49.50-65.00). I’d like to prance down the sidewalk in this scent, holding a bouquet of flowers, and wearing the BCBG Max Azria flats that Brenae loves.

Since I feel an urge to accessorize this imaginary outfit, let me say that the Anthropologie earrings I featured here would work wonderfully – like a dream, really!

To round this out with three scents, I’m going to mention another airy and beautiful perfume: Donna Karan – Cashmere Mist ($18.00-$78.00). Available at Sephora. This is a scent for when I want to be a more sophisticated version of myself – the one who dresses in a white silk dress and tiny diamond earrings when she goes to brunch. I’m 25 now, by 45 I might be that woman. This scent will work on me at either age. Out of all the three scents I’m featuring here, I believe this one is what women over 40 want.
