Music Ace
, New York, NY
With another deadline having come and gone, soon-to-be hipster haven Ace Hotel is playing another game of musical chairs with its opening date. Lucky for hotelier Alex Calderwood, we’re too in love with the space’s musical notes to mind the delay. The 29th/Broadway location is supposedly a mix of gritty and industrial chic, whatever that means. All I know is that I have my eye on the rooms filled with unique touches like old records for the deskside turntables as well custom Gibson guitars with guitar strings available at the front desk for those with musical chops. Seeing as how a stay at the Ace doesn’t seem likely anytime soon, here are a few tips on recreating that retro musical look to fit your own pad.
Crosley Archive Portable USB Turntable
Naturally the easiest way to go retro is with this turntable that actually plays your old LPs.
Round Blues Amplifier
If you’re more of an iPod type of gal, get the vintage look without having to trade in the convenience of iTunes.
Vinyl CDs
So you don’t have records you say? Fake it with CDs made to look like vinyls.
Record Frame
If you don’t have a musical bone in your body, you can go for some recycled record wall candy made from genuine vintage LPs.
Headphone and Turn Table Pillowcase
Might as well go all out and turn the rest of your bedroom head-to-toe lyrical with a black and white turntable graphic for your sheets.
