More ways to keep your pet safe!

We’re taking a look at pet insurance and alternatives – and there’s one more we want to point out. Pet Health Care Plan is the official pet insurance partner of the ASPCA and they have several different plans to choose from – that appear to work much like human health care!

Their most basic plan is catastrophic which covers things like accidents, hospitalization, x-rays, surgery, etc. The Accident Only Plan maxes out at $8,000.00 per year, with a $2,500.00 per incident limit. It’s only $8.99/month for dogs, and there’s more good news – this plan covers pups that typically aren’t covered under the rest of their plans – or by other companies. Accident insurance still takes care of older dogs, and dogs with pre-existing health conditions.

There are four more plans with varying levels of coverage, the most expensive and most thorough being what they call the “Best” plan.  This plan costs around $76/month for dogs and according to the site the Best Plan covers spaying and neutering, many vaccines, an annual exam – including heartworm testing – and some chronic and long-term conditions.  This plan has a maximum benefit of $13,000.00 per year, with a $2,500.00 per incident limit.

Of course, there are other options in between catastrophic and “Best.” If you’re looking to insure your pet,  we found Pets Health Care Plan to be the easiest to understand, and the most applicable to pets’ needs!
