Make plans to keep your pup safe! (Part II)
We’re continuing our overview of people and places in NYC that can help you make sure your pet is safe and taken care of if something happens to her after-hours.
Pet Chauffeur Pet Transport
The majority of New Yorkers don’t have cars, and – while it makes living in the city cheaper and more convenient in some ways – it can make having a pet harder, especially if you don’t have time to arrange a car share or a ride. Pet Chauffeur is here to help! They’ll come pick you and your pooch up and take you to the vet, or wherever she needs to go.
Veterinary Emergency & Referral Group
(718) 522-9400 (Brooklyn)
This organization is located in Brooklyn and offers emergency, 24-hour service every day of the year. In case of a pet emergency, just bring your pooch in for care – you don’t need a referral or appointment. Another bonus of Veterinary Emergency & Referral Group is that they provide an estimate of the cost up-front. However, be aware that in most situations, a full deposit of the low-end estimate is required before treating you pet.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Being prepared for a natural disaster or an emergency can mean the difference between life and death for you – and your pet! That’s why, in addition to life-saving tips for humans, the Red Cross offers lists, tips and expert advice on how to prepare for an emergency and what to do if you find yourself in the middle of one. The site is worth a look to remind yourself of some of the basic things you might want to have on hand if you’re a pet owner!
