Lela Rose Sample Sale Draws in Brides to Be
, New York, NY
Lela Rose’s ethereal and trendy yet sophisticated bridal gowns were marked down to incredibly low prices (up to 75% off retail) at today’s sample sale in Midtown. Lasting through Friday evening, the sale, which began at 8AM this morning, offered only a select group of gowns that were true production samples and stock pieces. Given this fact, if you are currently on the hunt for a beautifully feminine dress for your summer wedding, then I urge you to race down to this sale, as merchandise is extremely limited! The wonderfully attentive and helpful showroom employees stated that earlier this morning a shopper left to “think about a dress,” only to return an hour later and discover it had been purchased.
About six modestly sized racks were arranged per size (0-10). Given this is a sample sale, the majority of the dresses were a size 2, with size 4 being the runner up. There were only a couple of size 10’s, about four size 0’s, a fair amount of 8’s, and no 6’s to be seen. Please note, that some dresses featured mascara marks (presumably from being tried on by models and/or shoppers) and a few were dirty from storage. However a trip to the dry cleaner may do the trick.
Beginning with the size 8 rack, there was a beautiful off-white strapless gown with a floral lace top ($1,195), as well as an architectural white strapless striped dress with floral outline ($1,695) and an elegant pearl white dress ($495) that is light and airy, making it perfect for a beach wedding.
As you make your way to the size 4 racks, there are a few top-only options in size 2 and 4 for only $150. For the 4’s out there, the tiered strapless slink dress caught my eye ($795), as did the organza style cream gown ($1,595), which was stylishly tight through the thigh before letting out. If you’re a non-traditional bride-to-be try on the floral lace dress, with brown detail ($2,100). Lastly, if you’re looking for a short yet tasteful dress for your big day, stop to look at the short silk off-white dress ($895).
The size 2 section had a few repeat stock pieces, with additional beauties of its own. There were a few interesting gowns that featured a canvas-esque fabric ($795), as well as a dusted pink organza style gown ($995), and an off-white colored strapless dress with hand-sewn floral detail ($1,995). Although this was being tried on at the time of review, the dress that stood out as a true original was a previous runway sample in size 0/2, that was a hand knit two layered dress with cap sleeves and olive underneath, which, according to a showroom employee, is among Lela Rose’s favorite designs ($1,795, runway photo pictured).
For the summer brides out there, make sure you make a point to stop by the Lela Rose Bridal Sample Sale before it’s too late and the stock depletes. If you don’t have much luck there, try tomorrow’s Reem Acra Bridal Sample Sale on for size.
