Leggiadro Samples Sale

Elegant ladies and all cashmere aficionados must be in heaven with the Leggiadro Sample Sale today. Yes, I admit, being the publisher of this magazine has its perks; and being invited to the editor’s night is a major one. You not only get to sip champagne, but are also literally “the first to pick” the goods. So yesterday, I left my well air-conditioned Upper East Side apartment to travel down west to the Fashion District. In the cab, I did have some hesitations as you never know what to expect when you go down there: it could be anything between extreme luxuries to a… sweatshop décor. This time I was in luck. The show room was elegant, the items were well organized, the hosts were more than gracious and the champagne was chilled. OK, so maybe you won’t get champagne today, but the sample sale is definitely worth the trip.

Although they are positioned to serve a more mature, affluent customer base; I found several timeless pieces, cashmere, or wool that every woman of style (over 20) should have in her closet. The items are priced between $125 and $290, 75% of their original prices. There is a large collection of pants. There appears to be a strong following for them, as they seem to fit very well. They have a couple of sandals, not a large collection, mainly summer pieces, elegant and comfortable. There are many reasons why the Leggiadro Sample Sale is worth the trip (sweaters, signature blouses, corduroy pants and classic blazers). But if you love cashmere, don’t miss this one. If you go; ask Kristina, their lovely PR strategist, to tell you the story behind the brand and what they are doing with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation that makes them so proud.
