Judith Ripka Sample Sale Review: 10/13
Every piece of jewelry Judith Ripka creates screams timeless luxury. Her unique collections focus on finely cut gems, accented by diamond chips and 18K gold, with the occasional sterling silver. Today marked the beginning of Judith Ripka’s Sample Sale located in the Penthouse of the Doubletree Metropolitan on Lexington Avenue. I arrived moments after the strike of 10AM and there were already dozens of women scattered about, “oohing and ahhing” over the dazzling collection marked 50% off the tag price (don’t worry, we did the deductions for you J ).
Upon arrival you are handed a ticket. With only so many attendants (about 10) one must wait to be helped, as to not crowd around the other ladies as they model perhaps their future favorite pair of earrings. While you wait patiently for your turn, take a gander at Judith Ripka’s latest collection of handbags featuring embossed leather ($500).
It’s our turn! On to the good stuff…Let’s start with the gorgeous 18K gold pendants. Among my favorite included the jewel tooth necklaces in both black onyx and solid turquoise ($900). Tip: If you’re a fan of the jewel tooth design, there is a solid red stone tooth pendant in the 70% case. Gems are featured in an array of sizes, including amethyst, aquamarine, citrine, topaz, peridot, amongst many others, and are centered within her traditional 18K gold designs, both oval and circle shaped, as well as a few square designs ($900 – $4,000, depending on the amount of pave). In the same case are small, simple necklaces with classic designs such as the evil eye, drop key, cross, Star of David, etc ($900).
Judith Ripka may very well be best known for her Monaco rings, which were plentiful at the sale! The rings again, range in size, shape, and metal (18K Gold $9,000, 14K Gold, and Sterling Silver) enough of a variety to satisfy every taste. There was a gorgeous 18K white gold ring with honey citrine ($9,000) but my eye kept traveling toward every piece featuring terrifically bold black onyx gem. The black onyx rings are dazzling and seem more than worth your money, as are the chandelier earrings ($600 for 14K and $250 for Sterling Silver).
Don’t be fooled by the advertised 70% Off, it seems they put a group of random odds and ends in a case to simply exploit the number (aside from the aforementioned jewel tooth pendant).
Overall the Judith Ripka Sample Sale was a big hit (as exemplified by the glee of shoppers running about) and well worth your time if you’re on the hunt for your next timeless jewel. Even if you don’t have much to spend, there are plenty of price acceptable sterling silver pieces to choose from! What are you waiting for? Go!
