Intermix Warehouse Sale

28 February 2008

It’s hit or miss, but worth a visit.

Intermix’s bi-annual 4-day 2008 Warehouse Sale started today and it is apparently their biggest one yet. The strongest selection is definitely in clothing –  Theory jackets,  Stella McCartney dresses, J-Brand and Anlo denim and plenty more from DSquared, Vince, Ella Moss, See by Chloe and Diane Von Furstenberg for up to 90% off.

The shoe selection isn’t huge, but there are some great finds from Kors, Chloe and Stella McCartney. If you are looking for a new handbag, this isn’t the sale for you – they only had two styles, both were gold metallic by a brand I wasn’t familiar with.

I went in with my heart set on stocking up on DVF dresses and was a little disappointed not to find very many in X-Small. But there were plenty in other sizes.

If you cringe at the tought of sample sale madness – do not fear. It’s in a big space, well-organized and has a dressing room with plenty of mirrors.

You MUST check your coat and “bag” athte front door, though some women still were walking around with large purses, so I don’t know what consititutes a ‘bag”. If it’s nice weather (like today) leave your coat and purse at home as this line is long and slow.

The dressing room is a huge open space, as usual, but the mirrors are the small dorm mirrors, propped against walls, and there aren’t a whole lot. So you will have to fight to check out your try-ons. Also, when I went yesterday women were throwing clothes EVERYWHERE, so be careful where you step.

The shoes were OK, nothing particularly eye chatching or memorable to me, though I know they had a lot of Kors boots with fur and fringe. They didn’t have a lot of size 8 (my own size) but did have a large selection of 10+, which seemed odd.

There were a lot of pants to choose from, all marked by sizes and then in color groups. However the tops/jackets were a mess, with things just thrown together and haphazardly put back on the wrong racks.

I overheard a manager saying that they would not be getting anymore inventory in, what they had is what they had out. So get there sooner than later. The prices are good, but for sizes 0-2 the selection was slim. That said I was still able to buy $2,000+ worth of clothes for $300, so you can get great scores!
