How Fight Acne and Aging at the Same Time!

13 September 2007

I think I developed frown lines while I was trying to figure out how to get rid of my acne scars. Dammit. One day you’re a teen with greasy, popable skin and the next you’re old and creased. You’ve still got acne scars, and now you’ve got wrinkles too.

Thank God some of those anti-aging products can also help with acne scars! Like the TCA chemical facial peel. (Couldn’t they think of a better word than “peel”? To me it reminds me of getting a bad sunburn.) It claims that it not only helps get rid of wrinkles and acne scars but it also reduces the appearance of strech mark, gets rid of acne and blackheads, and reduces discoloration due to sun damage. (Does it make the lame walk and the blind see? Does it turn tone deaf people into operatic geniuses? RIP Pavoratti.)

If you’d rather stay away from chemicals, you can also try lasers. The Nulase Soft Touch Laser helps get rid of acne scars, rejuvinate cells, and fight wrinkles.

If neither of these options are palatable for you, try something more natural, say, something in you pantry: lemons and olive oil. Lemons are very acidic (surprise, surprise) which makes them effective bleaching agents. Dab some lemon juice on your acne scar with a cotton ball, let it sit for ten minutes, then rinse it away. Olive oil helps replenish the elasticity of your skin. Just massage it in and you’re good to go. I’m not sure if olive oil helps with wrinkles, but it can’t hurt…which I’m not sure is entirely true for chemicals and lasers.
