Housing Works Annual Spring Preview Chelsea Sale Review 3/3

16 March 2011

The Spring Preview at the Housing Works Chelsea location, rocked. Except for the fact I had to pay $10 to get in, and the very long line. Hence, I chose not to purchase the $30 pair of new Adidas sneakers, $20 glass ring, $30 vintage beaded purse, and $20 blue Housing Works Annual Spring Preview Sale Review 3/3and white teapot I had been carrying around. Yes, it seemed as if everyone had found something. With only 2 cash registers open, the line was at least 20 people long, and everyone had to wait. But, what a preview! Housing Works is always, what I think of, as the best place to find vintage, and select never been worn designer pieces. A Nanette Lepore suit was $125, Theory espadrilles were $70.

The preview was a look for what is to come for Spring at Housing Works at Chelsea. Every one of their SEVEN other locations (and also the online auction) will be having these awesome previews coming up in the next few days. Many handbags, hats, coats! Ah, the house wares! Incredible, and that is what people were picking up. The jewelry, incredible. Many unique pieces, many designers. No more 18k gold, so if you are trying to melt and resell that gold, it was wiped out as soon as doors opened.

Again, my philosophy on Housing Works: Go. But especially make it to one of the seven upcoming previews. Be prepared to wait in line and pay $10 to get in, (but they have credit card machines if you don’t have cash). Buy one of kind vintage pieces, or donated designer items that have never been worn, and the money goes to charity. I cannot imagine the great items that the West Village and Brooklyn stores will have! Get there early, and, if you are a Supporter Member for $40 a month and get in 30 minutes before the doors open to the public, run and buy the 18k gold! Save it for family heirlooms.
