High Line Spring Kick-off Event
WHAT: High Line Spring Kick-off Event
WHY: Join us as we welcome spring and kick off our amazing 2016 programming season with this joyous, one-of-a-kind celebration.
All the way from Gansevoort Street to West 26th Street, performances by a diverse group of local artists, representing a wide variety of genres, will bring the High Line to life. Music, dance, poetry, comedy, storytelling, and spoken word will unite to make the entire day unforgettable.
Come to watch Daniel Goode’s ‘Gong Line’ and Heidi Latsky Dance’s ‘On Display,’ and performance artists Calling All Parties and a cadre of poets and spoken word artists – including LaTasha N. Nevada Diggs, Paolo Javier, and Emanuel Xavier. Participate in an interactive variety show led by East Village comedy powerhouse Nat Towsen. Bring your family along and enjoy musical performances by ¡Acopladitos!, as well as an Other Voices’ American Sign Language-based storytelling piece inspired by the students of PS 347. Or dance and eat lunch to the sounds of Mobile Mondays! DJs Joey Carvello and DJ Misbehavior. Join tours of High Line Art’s Wanderlust exhibition led by Assistant Curator Melanie Kress, or explore the literary history of the West Village on a poetry walking tour presented by the Academy of American Poets.
