High Intensity Pigments: From Morning to Night

Confession: I broke down and bought four things from L’Oreal’s high intensity pigments line. I didn’t mean to do it, and I probably shouldn’t have, but I did. The ads for the HIP shadow duos finally got to me. What can I say? I’m a sucker for bright colors. I’m brown eyed, so I went with colors that supposedly go with brown eyes: brown (surprise surprise), burgundy, pink and blue. I didn’t find any useful tips on how to use the shadow duos on L’Oreal’s website: every “look” on the site features about six different products, and it’s hard to imagine any of those looks anywhere besides the catwalk. I mean sure, the looks are pretty and dramatic, but where are you supposed to wear them? Clubbing?

So I decided I would figure it out myself. I started by taking the brown pigment (the shadows are very smoothe, easy to blend) and painted the bottom half of my lid, then used the burgundy for the top half. It looked good. It made my eyes pop. I left it on for the rest of the day and when I looked at it again in the evening, the shadow had blended and my look was flawless. It was classy, sexy, sophisticated…and I still didn’t look like I was wearing way too much make up.

So that’s a makeup tip from someone who knows next to nothing about make up: do your eyes in the morning, and by 7pm they will be perfect!

Regards,
Kyoko
