Going Gray

Aparently, gray is in this fall. Gray everything: gray dresses, gray coats, gray formal wear. Gray to match the winter sky. As if we don’t see enough gray September-March. Looking at the colors used in fall lines always depresses me. Why can’t we wear bright clothes all year round? I mean, the gray is sort of classy, even if it does make you look like you’re stuck somewhere between a widow and a bride. A gray trenchcoat is very hot–very 40’s detective movie. I can get on board with that. But that dress by Marc Jacobs with the buttons all the way down? Screams ‘old maid’ if you ask me. That being said, there are some pieces that I like, and they don’t come with haute price tags attached to them.

Gap makes a very cute gray bubble skirt, that can be easily dressed up for work with a black or navy button down and a pair of mary janes, or dressed down for off hours with a t shirt and hoodie. I like this look because it’s flattering to everyone, not just skinny girls.

For something more formal, Boston Proper (which is known for sexy designs) makes a very chic chiffon overlay dress in charcoal gray. It’s totally hot.

Of course, don’t forget that this trend extends to outerwear (as if I want to think about wearing my winter coat!) so one of the easiest ways to be in is to wear a gray coat, like this charcoal peacoat by Andrew Marc. I can’t stand winter, but this coat is cozy and cute enough to get me through it.

Now, enough of this winter talk!

Besitos,

Graciela
