Missoni, Armani, Valentino Disappointing Sale on 56th Street -Reviewed 6/23
, New York, NY
Entering the pleasant building my expectations were high. I was greeted by a lovely ambiance then slapped with a staff that makes me feel like a high class shoplifter, trailing my every move. As I let the unnecessary paranoia die down, I browsed the unfairly priced, outdated fashions. It seemed to me this company called up Armani and Valentino begging for their scraps. Companies obliged by sending them an odd variety of sweaters and bubble jackets from their Emporio (Armani) and Red (Valentino) lines.
One can usually nab some quality staples at sales such as these, but none were present at this sale in particular. Edgy dresses with strange frills by CNC, priced around $390, were among the only threads that caught my eye. Emporio Armani’s winter collection, displayed in sizes 0 and 2, with a few larger sizes mixed in, was less than impressive. Italian bags were strewn about in the back of the narrow room. Pastel colored Capaciollo bags and a few cute straw numbers can be found here and purchased for under $500. Missoni‘s wild leftovers were also present – neon pink fishnet tops that are blinding to the eye. I couldn’t help but predict seeing the top (barely) on JWoww later this year as MTV airs Jersey Shore’s latest venture in Italy (this is not a pro). Another diamond in the rough was a hip Vanilla B leather vest but its size 0 size may only allow it to fit your chihuahua. Skip it!
