Fashion Cheat Sheet: Slouch Boots Stand in for Chanel Leggings

While I was looking through photos of Chanel’s fall runway show, I thought at first that leather knee high boots would be in this fall. (By the way, what was up with that runway? It looked like a dog track or a Steeplechase…those women ought to have been wearing leashes). I took a closer look and realized that those weren’t boots at all, they were leather leggings. Sadly leather leggings are not easy to come by and not many of us can afford Chanel’s version. Thankfully, the discrepancy between boot and legging is largely unnoticeable, especially from a distance. Which means there is a way to look fashionable without buying knock off leather leggings.

From a distance, a leather slouch boot will give you the exact same look as a pair of leather leggings. Most people won’t be able to tell up close, for that matter. Via Spiga, Steve Madden and Cole Haan all make very nice leather slouch boots that double almost perfectly for leather leggings. To complete your imitation Chanel look, wear your hood up. You’ll not only be chic, you’ll be nice and warm!
