Ellen DeGeneres- The New Face of CoverGirl

23 September 2008

“. . .and boy did she like lipliner.” Ellen on the makeup artist.

Joining the long list of easy, breezy CoverGirl babes is the hilarious comedy queen, Ellen. With her recent marriage to Portia di Rossi, Ellen is definitely on top of the world this year. CGs people seem equally as thrilled. Esi Eggleston Bracey, vice president and general manager of Global Cosmetics for Proctor and Gamble (P&G) Beauty, who count CoverGirl as one of their brands, expressed her excitement over the pairing.

“Ellen is the quintessential CoverGirl. She is smart, confident, natural, and beautiful from the inside out,” she said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “Her beauty and down-to-earth personality fit perfectly with what CoverGirl represents. We look forward to our partnership — stay tuned for more news.”

Although we all love Ellen, she is certainly unique from the other models that CG has featured. She recently did a shoot with W magazine (I am obsessed with their photography- see below)

and she told W this, “I also feel myself more of a person than a gender. When people show me clothing that seems very, very feminine, it’s hard for me to embrace that, because it just doesn’t feel like me. … It was fun [for the W cover shoot] having somebody do that to my hair, and do that makeup. But would I want to do that every single day? No.”

I am thrilled about this collaboration. People are always preaching that the media sends out a warped image of what beauty is and Ms. (or Mrs. as of recent) Degeneres is the perfect antidote to this with her contagious smile and humor. What do you ladies think?

Im so excited to that Cover Girl wanted Ellen to be their next leading lady. It always seems like beauty means glamorous glitzy dressses, long flowy hair, and six inch stilletos. Ellen, while still beautiful, does not fall into that mold. For someone like myself who is also not among the girlie girls, its refreshing and reassuring to see Ellen take on this new role. You go girl!!!!!!

    Absolutly beautiful!
    And I know that
that’s the only way we’ll see you in heels…
    Sitting.

I love seeing you out of your comfort zone.
Somehow, in a juxto-position kind of way
it made your true self amplified.
    Very beautiful.
