Ear Buds for Life!

Let’s face it: the earbuds that come with the Apple iPod aren’t the best around. They’re not exactly comfortable, they don’t seem to be capable of conveying bass, and they are pretty much made to fall apart. If you want to hear the music on your iPod the way its meant to be heard, you’ll have to upgrade to a superior model of earbuds. A good place to start is the Panasonic RP-HJE50-S. The sleek combination of black and silver makes them very attractive. But what is even better is that they fit comfortably in your ear, and come with 3 different sizes of ear gaskets, so they’ll fit any size ear. This makes them a great alternative to the ones that come with the ipod, which actually make your ears sore after a while. Also, the panasonic headphones have great sound. You know how you have to turn up your iPod all the way to be able to hear the bass with those other buds? Not so with these. Over all, they are far superior to the originals.

Ready to invest more money in a set of earbuds? Bose makes a pair (you know Bose–they have a full page ad in the Skymall catelogue advertising thier noise cancelling headphones, something I long for every time Murphy’s law kicks in and the toddler behind me starts bawling) that offers great sound quality and noise cancellation. That will come in handy on your next flight, won’t it? Some people complain that the buds don’t have the best fit. If you can live with that, and if sound quality is your main criterion, go with these.

Of course, if you want to go really high end, you have to go with Shure. A pair of earbuds by Shure will cost you about $400. I bet you didn’t know earbuds could cost that much, did you? These are the earbuds of choice for professional musicians–people whose livelihood depends on being able to hear bass, treble, and all of the subtleties that go into making a song. If you crave good sound are willing to pay the price, you have to go with Shure.

I almost forgot one thing. None of the earbuds mentioned above are white. For those of you who chose fashion above sound (insert eyeroll here) the Panasonic model does come in white. And I suppose if you want pink, green, or whatever neon color you desire, you can get that from Apple, but we’ve already established that those are no good, haven’t we?

TTYL,

Roxie
