For hours you curl, kink, scrunch and walk very, very still as not to loose your laborious man-made curls. Eventually they fall from curl to wave and finally straight. Your efforts lost. Sure you can perma curl (gag) or perma straighten, but that takes a perma toll on your tresses. Until now. Enter the fantastic frock discovery that could abolish perma treatments and change the nature of your hair.
Last month, London’s Daily Mail announced that researchers at Australia’s Queensland Institute of Medical Research discovered the gene that predicts curly hair. The trichohyalin gene, formerly known to affect hair development, apparently determines whether hair will be curly or straight.

For beauty, the scientific discovery means that eventually we might be able develop mechanisms to make hair curlier to more straight. Bye bye Brazilian Keratin. Sayonara straighteners and serums. Soon it will be all pop a pill for curly, pop a pill for straight.

And more importantly, the discovery could refine DNA identity kits helping forensic specialists determine whether perpetrators have straight or curly hair.
