Coats on Sale to Keep You Warm

12 February 2008

It’s freezing today. I’m not sure how wrong I’d be if I said it was -50 degrees! Okay, maybe that’s exaggerating things a bit much, but it really is freezing. I went outside ten minutes ago to take my dog out, and I think I’m still thawing. But some good did come out of this realization – it may be February and we may be ready for spring – but it’s still winter. And while it’s fun to start shopping for warmer weather, it’s hard to deny the weather outside your door.

Ergo, coats! And with any luck, they’re starting to get marked down as the spring items appear on the shelves. That means, pretty coats at pretty, pretty marked-down prices. And if you come upon this article a week from now, even more coats at these stores (or any we have on our ‘Websites We Love’)will be marked down. Although, there will be less of a selection. So, pace yourself wisely.

This is a gorgeous Italian-made golden wool coat. Considering the modest cut, it has an air of maturity. But given the color, and depending upon what you wear under it – it has the great potential to be glamorous. I would love to glide through the streets in this coat, the wind blowing against me. If the wind let up, I would unbutton it and wear it as though it was an afterthought to have something in my closet that looked so luxe. Barneys New York Gathered Back Coat (Sale – $349.00)

J-Crew’s sale section does not fail us when it comes to coats. This coat is available in this brilliant violet (‘deep violet’), or a stunning yellow (‘burnished yellow’). I’m drawn to this because of the ruffled collar, which is oh-so feminine. The cut of this coat is very slimming, and the three buttons above the waist give this a chic look. Double-Cloth Sybil Coat (Sale – $199.99)

I love white coats, there’s something so pristine and beautiful about them. But I do get fearful that something will happen to them. A good first step would be buying a coat like this. It’s ivory, and it’s got this great texture which makes it seem more wearable for me. I’d be less nervous to wear it. Textured Long Jacket at Neiman Marcus (Sale – $225.00)

Okay, it might be time for me to test going outside again. A girl’s gotta get stuff done! If I can just get this stupid Ashlee Simpson song out of my head things will be looking better. Her songs are fun for about a day (if that), huh?

Ciao for now,
