Club Monaco Sample Sale Review 7/19

19 July 2011

After waiting fifteen minutes for the elevator in a building seated way down by the Hudson, to whisk me up to the 8th floor, I was smacked in the face with a line so snaky and long I had an immediate flashback to the hot summer days I waited patiently for a ride on Disney’s Splash Mountain. Both proving to be worth the wait: instant relief and immense satisfaction. Once passed the hour long line in the stuffy hallway, I finally made it into Club Monaco’s Sample Sale were my jaw immediately dropped at the dirt cheap price list and heaps of clothing waiting to be fished through.

Club Monaco Sample Sale Review 7/19This, my friends, is a true blue sample sale in every sense of the word. Boxes, upon boxes, upon boxes are donned with sharpie-etched labels reading such phrases as “$1 Scraps,” “$5 canvas belts,” and “$15 sunglasses.” If you have the patience and energy today then get yourself down to 601 West 26th Street IMMEDIATELY. Don’t even think about it – GO! The racks of dusted pink and cream silk blouses and dresses for every season are endless and so are the tables of mountain like arrangements of jeans, khakis, shorts, and dress pants. With the most expensive item in the room being $35, there is no way you can go wrong.

Not everything here is manufactured by Club Monaco, remember this is an actual sample sale. Along with their famous dress shirts, mixed in you will find the original inspirations for their clothing. I myself walked away with a vintage tee shirt for $5 from the 1970’s, which was used as a prototype to create their comfortable summer tees. Be careful with some of the clothing, many items are damaged, hence why they are steals. Some shirts and jackets have been stabbed with pins, stitched along the seams and hemmed by the stylist to be used in creating their line. Don’t fret, for every damaged item there are ten goodies with your name on it.

Line at Club Monaco Sample SaleThis is one of the few sample sales I can assure you there is “something for everyone.” The men were squealing just as loudly as the women at their array of button downs, pullovers, tees, leather jackets, and khakis.

My purchases you ask? A chunky navy sweater with cashmere hints ($15), the aforementioned 70’s tee ($5) and a beige cropped tank ($5), waiting to be paired with my favorite high-waisted shorts.

As a heads up this sale is CREDIT CARD ONLY and as usual, no returns are accepted. Also, no mirrors or changing rooms so bring an honest pal!
