Need a good, inexpensive meal, or a place to hang out with friends on a Monday or Wednesday night? Go to Croxley Ales: Ale House and Eatery for their 10cent wings (barbeque wings are 20 cents each)! The wings come in mild, medium, or hot, and they are delicious. This sports bar and restaurant has great atmosphere with a dozen or so flatscreen TVs, and dark wood benches that are actually church pews. There is a 20-wing minimum, and a four dollar drink minimum, but sodas are only two dollars, so for six dollars you’ve got dinner and ambience! There is a full menu in addition to the wings, with good pub fare, typically reasonable pub prices, and an extensive selection of beer. Croxley’s is small, popular, and fills up quickly, so plan on getting there early and putting your name on the list if you are going with a group of friends. The food, coziness, and good rock music make it well worth waiting for. Written by contributor Anna Bristow

Big Apple Cider – at the Bryant Park Holiday Shops: 42nd Street btw. 5th & 6th Avenues If you’re in need of a hot drink during your holiday shopping, one of your best bets would be to stop at the Big Apple Cider booth in the Bryant Park Holiday Shops. Located behind the skating pond in a group of four food booths, this is by far the best deal out of the four. The cider is $3 a cup, or two for $5, and it comes with a free cinnamon stick! There is also a Big Apple Cider cart next to the entrance to the skating pond in case you need to warm up while you wait on line. Just be sure not to go to the booth that sells hot chocolate and soup: the hot chocolate is $3.00 for Swiss Miss, and marshmallows or whipped cream are $1 extra: Starbucks is actually cheaper – $3.09 with whipped cream, and it doesn’t come from an instant package! The Bryant Park Holiday shops are open Monday – Friday 11am-8pm, Saturday 10am-9pm, and Sunday 10am-6pm until December 30th. You can find more information at www.bryantpark.org/amenities/shops.php.
