Is it a scheduling issue, or more than that?
Sample sale scheduling conflicts happen all the time. Today, for example, frugal fashionistas can choose between Emilio Visconti, Nanette Lepore, and Tibi, to name just a few. But rarely does a boo boo take place on the scale of what’s allegedly going down on Thursday: namely, both the Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin sales. What’s a shoe lover to do? First off, keep in mind that this may be just a rumor. Though Manolo is confirmed, Louboutin is not. Furthermore, the Louboutin sale is strictly invite only: if you haven’t RSVPed to your exclusive email and confirmed a time to shop, you’re not going. Spend the day in line at the public Manolo Blahnik sale instead. Bonus: the Manolo sale is generally regarded as a great sample sale and stock is refreshed several times during the day. If the Louboutin sale is actually happening and if you are one of the lucky few with access (and again, these are two very big ifs), you could hit both, strictly speaking: we’d recommend doing Louboutin first, since although both sales are slated to start at 9am, the Manolo sale historically doesn’t open doors until 11am. Whichever way you slice it, you will spend the vast majority of your day waiting in lines, but at the end, you could have several pairs of shoes to show for it.
The NBC website has the date/location information:

And it looks like her wallet was not left untouched by this sale
Bargain Jenny stopped by the Nanette Lepore sample sale. Spoiler! She liked it.
“The Nanette Lepore sale is worth going to – if you can get there while they still have samples available. The offerings focus on shirts, sweaters, and jackets from this season. I stopped by around 11 and, while there were many people in the checkout and fitting room lines, the rush from the early morning seemed to be over. Most of the items on the Nanette Lepore website are on sale.
At 11, the entire back wall was full of samples and there were about six racks. Some people left their samples on the racks by the dressing room, so check there for some stray pieces. Most were a size two. The sample wall is not marked, and the price list for samples is on the front table at the cash register only. The prices on samples ranged from $40-60, with jackets at $85. You’ll know if it’s a sample by a “dry clean only” small tag underneath the label. They are not restocking samples.
Price list for stock is as follows: coats are $275, skirts $95, dresses $145, sweaters $95. There is plenty of everything, but here’s what caught my eye: runway poet skirts, Nemesis jacket, Vanishing cardi, Two Timing velvet top, Tea & Tartan dress, Get a Clue cape, and the Disguise Me coat. They are restocking the stock items and will help you find something if you can’t find your size. They may eventually offer additional discounts on stock, but it did not seem that the person I asked was clear on that. There was also clothing from Nanette’s Oonagh line: prices on those ranged from $40 for skirts and tees to $95 for dresses and cardigans.
There were some bags as well, the ones I saw were Moyna, not Nanette. There were also scarves, hats and belts.
Overall, it was a great sale. I bought more than I had expected (including a modified version of the Night Mischief coat, the Tatiana top, and a few more items). Hurry and go while you can still get sample prices. But check their math, they overcharged me at the register!”

And what you might be missing by being born in America
You know what we are missing by beeing born in a country that allows us to buy at least 5 different types of eye cream(puffines, dark circles, wrinkles, upper eyelid, lower eyelid)? Well, for starters the creative common sense mind to fix dry skin with soy milk and know how to make summer foundation work in the winter. Thank God for the editors of InStyle, Ultimate Beauty Secrets, they came up with a must-have beauty bible, that offers us a number of cold weather tips that will have you looking your best.
1. Supplement Your Skin Routine
If you have dry skin that is flakey, consider changing up your routine and washing your face with dandruff shampoo instead of your regular cleanser once a month; this reduces the yeast levels that cause scaly skin.
2. Brighten Up
Refresh your complexion by dipping a washcloth in soy milk and resting it on your face for 10 minutes once a week. Soy is a skin brightener and contains phytoestrogen, a plant-derived estrogen that is thought to help prevent wrinkles.
3. Stay Hydrated
Keep skin hydrated on cold nights with a make-it-yourself humidifier. Hang a wet towel from the doorknob overnight (wring out the edges to prevent drips); by morning, the towel will be dry but your skin won’t.
4. Adjust Your Color
To make summer foundation work in winter, dab a little foundation on your hand, then squeeze a pea-size blob of SPF 30 on top and mix until the sunscreen blends completely with the foundation, lightening it by a shade or two.
5. Moisturize Dry Lips
Lips extra dry? Combine 1 teaspoon honey with 1 teaspoon sugar to exfoliate them. Blend the two ingredients in your hand, then apply the mixture in a circular motion for 90 seconds before wiping off.
The book is available now for $22.95 in bookstores nationwide and at InStyle.com/ultimate. I guess we can even buy common sense in our good Ol’ USA.

Or at least its sales
Let me just start by saying that this is not a paid advertisement.
In fact, for years I did not walk into the Lord and Taylor store, not even when I stopped to admire their Christmas decorations. Then I remember about a year ago being in a cab when my eyes stopped on the small monitor in front of me that was running a Lord and Taylor short advertisement. And ads kept popping up on busses and bus stops, in cabs and on cabs, pretty much everywhere I looked around. Their changes in management made a front page in WWD, and everybody knew by then that Lord and Taylor was up for a big change. Today I found an email from their affiliated program (yes, I did sign up for their affiliated program) and I though it’s worth sharing with you because some of those deals are not to be ignored. If you are anything like me, you have not been in that store since 1993 and are setting yourself to miss on some great deals. Give them a second chance, and I hope you score a great buy doing so.
