What to wear post-slopes.

Personally, I usually stop home and freshen up pre-apres ski, allowing for a change and light make-up applique. If that’s not an option, coat lashes with waterproof mascara, and make sure underwear can transition to outerwear.

On the bottom: Pretty much every woman in the world has a beautiful derriere when squeezed into lulu lemon’s Wunder Under apres skilegging-style yoga pants. The moisture wicking signature luon keeps you dry even apres ski. The “brushed” version provides added warmth and looks just as sexy as the regular. “Groove” Wunder Unders have colorful bands at the top and are reversible. Wear under your ski pants or change into for a casual and sexy apres ski bottom half.
On the top: Depending on how much you sweat, you will want to remove your moisture wicking base and replace with a stylish but sporty sweater or zip up. Stella McCartney for Adidas has a beautiful winter sports line. We love the Winter Sports Performance Slim Jacket. It’s breathable, weather proof, and the CLIMA technology sweeps away sweat. Plus, the large neck and rouched sleeves are hot.
New to the ski lines? Bogner, Moncler, Kjus are the brands to look for. If you find them marked down, then lucky, lucky you. Take advantage and purchase. Check out www.stbernardsports.com, a winter sports site that categorizes each layer for men and women.

And if you are just fabulous. Go back to your room, shower and put on an outfit like that shown above. I mean, go big or go home, right?

Dresses, dresses and more dresses to ring in the new year.

29 December 2009

Dresses, dresses and more dresses were the only apparel suggested shopping in Soho and surfing the world wide web for the best last day of the year attire. Bright colors, sequins, sparkling and shining is the way to enter the new year. We brought you the make-up, and now our attire picks – in no particular order – for December 31, 2009.

From shopbop.com, the lovely experts at Barney’s and of course, H&M, we found shiny dresses, glittery shoes and single shoulder strappy numbers that are sure to turn heads. Whether you go for rock ‘n roll glam or are more of glittering hippie, there IS a dress out there for you. Some suggestions? We have ’em. From the left, Tibi sequin dress, ABS one shoulder pink cocktail mini, Haute Hippie bias sequin cowl dress, and Aqua’s blue sequin disco dress. Bloomingdale’s appears to be advertising a post-Christmas 50% off sale, so if you can bear the lingering tourists, you can score a deal. These dresses take the attention cake, so tame your shoes and jewels. If you prefer plain black, dress it up with a pair of sparkling Mui Mui stilettos. You’re going to be inside, right? So ditch the tights you’ve been wearing since September and show off your pilates-toned stems.

It’s the dawn of a new decade, ladies. Break out the glitter, blow out your hair, take time and thought in your dress choice and by all means, ring it in shining brightly. You deserve it.

This season's party dresses in fuscia, blue, green and red.

Sure, we love the grunge chic, ode to Kurt Cobain, rock revival. True, we can’t take off our combat boots and have accessorized in leather ad nauseum. And admitted, we are so tempted to go all Jenny Humphrey for this season’s holiday parties. But if there is any time to match your dress collection to your Christmas tree ornaments it’s now.

From Diane von Furstenberg to Derek Lam, designers for Fall pulled the hemline of their bright and cheery pieces above the knee. Feeling pasty? It’s perfectly fine to slap on those embellished Wolford tights you’ve been dying to done. Feeling frisky? If you can’t loosen the grip on rock chic, pair with your black studded ankle boots. Now for accessories: if your dress of choice is one shoulder, accessorize with statement earrings or a bracelet. Necklaces with one shoulder dresses should come low and add to the drama of the neck rather than crowd around the top of the edge. (See center.) While this season is all about the statement piece, choose one or two so not to overwhelm your look. And you still feel too sweet and perfect, keep your make-up a bit bad ass.

On a budget, we’ve seen single color dresses at Zara, Top Shop, Daffy’s and even… Forever 21. If you opt for the less expensive version, check the hemlines for snags and tears and pair with finer footwear.

Do it up right with the holiday season's best bottom-wear: the skirt.

8 December 2009

It’s that time and you want to dress up your holiday party attire even if your soiree was downgraded to Town Tavern. But whatev. Do it up right with this holiday season’s best bottom-wear choice: the skirt. Mini, feathered, embellished or tulip, the bright colors, pretty fabrics and yes, er, sequins, will lift your mood and make you everyone’s Christmas wishes. (Or you can just think you are. That’s totally cool too.)

How to wear? For day, tuck in a crisp white button up, pair with a classic blazer and keep the heel low on your average black stiletto. For night – oh we hear the nightlife! – pair with a sheer top, colored or patterned tights (we love the heart pair at Top Shop) and of course, fancy footwork. To avoid looking too trampy, make sure your legs are covered and your top half is conservative. No turtlenecks ladies! But something in good taste. (Note: If you keep questioning it over and over again, you probably should choose a different top.) Let your night make-up say you don’t give an F$*!, and draw attention to your shoes.
