Do you know your uggs?
Women everywhere have a love hate relationship with their ugg boots. On one hand, they are just plain ugly. On the other hand, nothing comes close to how comfortable they are.
You might think you know your UGGS, but I bet you differently.
The company “UGG Australia” is actually an American company.
Their boots are manufactured in China.
An “ugg boot” simply refers to any boot made of sheepskin. They originated in Australia out of necessity and in the late 90’s when ugg boots became very popular people thought that “ugg boot” was a brand and not a style of footwear.
Deckers corporation (aka UGG Australia) owns a label of Ugg boots called “UGG Boots”; the name of the brand closely if not completely resembling the name of the type of shoe that had been extremely popular in Australia for many decades.
So is it really worth dishing out hundreds of dollars for “UGG Australia” boots or over $700 for a Jimmy Choo UGG? Or should you save yourself some money and purchase a better quality ugg boot from a lesser-known Australian company? Read on.
We have been recently contacted by Michael Hodge from http://www.whooga-eu.co.uk who is working to get fashion bloggers support for real ugg boots, and increase awarness for his brand. As you can see from their site, his company is extremely concerned with the quality and authenticity of their boots. They have dedicated a large area of their site to “how to spot a fake” and these are few things we’ve learned ourselves:
1. Fake ugg boots will have a shinny inner fleece that is not spongy and soft to the touch like sheepskin.
2.Original ugg boots are comfortable in the summer just as they are in the winter because they are thermostatic.
3. Real Ugg boots are expensive since they are made from natural sheepskin, which is expensive to buy.
And there is some good news: Whooga is running a giveaway to everyone that follows them on twitter (twitter.com/whoogaboot) and another giveaway to everyone that signs up to their newsletter (www.whooga-eu.co.uk/birh.asp?p=Newsletter).
Stay tooned, they draw boots for the winners at the end of each month.
And just for you, our beloved Daily Vogue readers they created a discount code which will give you 10% off for the next week: 390THEVOGUE.

Fall 2010 Runways were bursting at the seams with exciting new fashion trends. From digital prints to the return of velvet the fall catwalks were filled with a wide range of new trends. So which trends should you incorporate into your wardrobe this fall? We complied a list of he top five Fall 2010 Trends. Read on.
Orange Handbag
A trendy handbag is an easy way to refresh your look for the new season. Orange handbags are the “it” bags for fall and are a great break from the typical neutral handbags. Look for orange handbags in simple shapes to balance out the bold color. (Editor’s Pick: Michael Kors Hamilton Satchel)
Lacy High Heels
Lace is a major trend for fall but instead of wearing a lacy top or skirt like everyone else will, go for a sexy pair of lacy high heels. You can pair your lacy heels with virtually anything and everything from your little black dress to your tweed suit. Look for a lacy heel or bootie with a kitten heel to keep the look demure and not gaudy. (Editor’s Pick: Manolo Blahnik Lacy Kitten Heels)
Leopard Print Dress
Leopard print strutted down the runway at what seemed to be every single show. Transform yourself into a Sicilian vixen by slipping into a fabulous leopard sheath. Make sure to keep your accessories simple and sleek as this dress is going to do all the talking. (Editor’s Pick: David Meister Leopard Print Wrap Dress)
Bib Necklace
The bib necklace is hotter than ever and is a great way to spice up your outfit in a flash. Pair it with a white tee-shirt for play or a white collared shirt for work. Remember, when it comes to bib necklaces, bigger is always better. (Editor’s Pick: Ranjana Khan Crystal & Silk Bib)
Cashmere Tights
Forget leggings this season, they are passé. Instead opt for ultra luxurious cashmere tights. They feel luscious against your kin and will keep you warm even when you opt for you micro minis. (Editor’s Pick: Wolford Cashmere Silk Tights)

They say you tell as much about a man by his watch and shoes you can living with him for years. Men identify with timepieces, carefully chosen as the perfect, and possibly only, visible representation of who they are. For women, a watch is slightly different. While some female timepiece devotees also choose their selection carefully and meticulously, a watch often comes off as not much more than another accessory. However, a truly great timepiece can both spice up an outfit or provide a touch of class to a more casual ensemble. When carefully selected, it can represent more than a part of your outfit. Take note from the gentlemen because it can represent you.
Most timepiece purchasers err on the side of caution when making an investment for their wrists. While traditionally, plain seems to match everything. Choosing an ordinary watch isn’t entirely necessary. Who are you? What do you like to do? If you love to sail, you want something water resistant, durable and comfortable. If you love fashion, you want something statement but transparent. If you are preppy and fashionable, then Hermes but in a different color, like rose quartz. And the fashionistas can go a little bit farther on the limb. Sure you aren’t going to spend $25K on a JACOB & CO. watch with a diamond skull and bones face, but you might purchase that Gucci stainless steel watch with satin band in light pink instead of white. Right?
So whether making a true investment or purchasing a Michael Kors white watch for summer, make sure your choice reflects who you represent. Not what your friend got or what’s “practical” or what your mom suggested to your husband. You. You. You.

Investing in statement jewelry has surprising staying power is like investing in yourself.
Investing statement pieces might seem like a move reminiscent of youthful naivety, but statement pieces do have lasting power in both their inherent value and their ability to elevate the wearer’s mood and self-esteem. From Cleopatra to Van Cleef, making an impact lasts.
Statement jewelry requires an element of confidence to sport as their bold presence attracts viewers, creates conversation and makes the wearer shine. The majority of women lack the ability to command a room, but statement pieces give us an edge, a boost, a confidence lift. After all, timid women don’t wear necks full of gold, silver and turquoise. When properly chosen, a statement piece is both an investment for your jewelry box and investment for you sense of self.
What to buy? This week’s Ben-Amun promotion is a good start. Sample sales are great opportunities to try out a first time purchase. In New York, check out the W.A. Studios Sample Sale featuring statement jewelry in turquoise, semi-precious stone, pearl and more for $5-$75. Online, Gilt Group has beautiful marked down pieces from exotic jewelry from Arunashi.
Our recommendation, invest in a piece that makes you feel your best…and wear it all the time.
