Stop shirking away from statement jewelry and go buy something extravagant and magnificently huge. The criteria is, the piece has to WOW people. It has to be so bold that it can carry your entire ensemble if you want it to.

Something interesting about statement necklaces is that there seem to be some that are made like bibs, and I don’t like those. Instead, I like the large necklace pieces that offer a conglomeration of jewels put together almost haphazardly. This is why I love the Burberry Faceted Necklace ($1,995.00) from Neiman Marcus. The color scheme keeps it from looking too ‘thrown-together-by-mistake’.

Love at first sight! I love the Pearl Dangle Necklace by Ten Thousand Things ($1,675.00) at Barneys New York. I think you could wear this with everything, you just need the confidence to be THAT glamorous.

Below are six pieces I think qualify as excellent statement jewelry pieces. Click on the image to get the details on each.

As all jewelry should be right now, any ring you wear should be mega HUGE. If it weighs your hand down, well then you have an excuse as to why you can’t possibly clean your bedroom.

Your ring will make a statement – the statement that you’re fabulous. I dare you to wave a hand with one of these beauties and not hail fifty cabs at once. You can indulge in this trend at any price point – from the under $100.00 finds to the ‘whoa I better get a second job!’ ones. Somehow, it’s always worth it.

Notes: Massive, like a three-headed dragon! Possibly dangerous if you wave it in someone’s face, hehe. So beautiful. I can’t stop looking at it. Lucifer Vir Honestus Trilogy Ring ($4,160.00) at Barneys New York

Notes: Tasteful, pretty, flowers are ‘in’, love the blue color with the gold. Desert Floral Cocktail Ring ($55.00) at J-Crew

Notes: I love the cluttered look it has going on. Seems almost like a maze. I’d wear it with every outfit, even jeans. Cristina Rotando Shiva Eyes Ring ($8,700.00) at Barneys New York

Notes: For the woman who isn’t ready for a huge statement ring yet, this is your first step. Will match everything in your wardrobe, unless you have flannel nightgowns. Then we have a problem to talk about. Enamel Leaf Ring ($49.00) at Banana Republic

I’ve already talked about big statement necklaces, but now I want to mention that it’s not just necklaces – it’s everything. Statement jewelry in general is a huge trend, and it’s wonderful because it makes you feel glam and luxe. You know what else evokes glamor and luxury? Gold. It’s rich and warm in color, which will look gorgeous for autumn.

Yes – another trend is here to talk about. But it’s the type of trend that is so easily to embrace that it will never feel like an ‘of this moment only’ trend. Which is also great for another reason: investing in it will have pay off long down the road. What is the trend I speak of so highly? The statement necklace, of course. This fall we’re downplaying the bag and focusing on shoes and jewels.

Get ready to salivate, because I have found some pieces that are awe-inducing. This is no time to be shy. Turn down the volume on the ensemble and let your necklace do the work. Voilia, you’ll be stylish in 3.2 seconds! All it takes for a simple outfit to upgrade is one of these pretties. They pack that much whallop, yesiree.

The bad thing? They’re addictive to buy. Once you’ve picked out one, you’ll see another that you have to have, and then another, and another. I say – indulge. They’re easy, glam, and fun. Your keywords are: big, bold, chunky, bright, loud, and impressive. With the mindset of a queen, pick out what strikes your fancy.
