Diamonds are a girl’s best friend? Bah humbug! The girl’s best friend is the humble yet versatile pearl. Produced by angry oysters, these shiny orbs can be anything you want them to be. What’s better for an interview than a string of pearls? (Sorry, sweetie but that diamond pendant is way too flashy.) Grandma’s birthday party? Meeting your boyfriend’s family? And for a black tie dinner, a tahitian pearl pendant on a white gold chain is the only way to go. Pearl stud earrings are sweet for every day.
If you have a lot of money to spend, or a sugar daddy, go with Mikimoto. Mikimoto pearls have been around since the late 1800s, and are considered to be the most glamourous and refined pearls around. Of course, it’ll set you back a pretty penny, so make sure its a good investment for you.
Less to spend? A string of freshwater pearls will cost you a less, and look just as lovely resting atop the curvature of your collarbone.
Whatever your tastes, you can definetly find a piece of pearl jewelry that suits you. For me, a string of pearls will always be my best friend.

Wow, this open weave thing is really taking off. For an exotic, Indian look, get a gold cuff in the open weave style–strands of gold woven into a pattern with intricate details. It has a timeless quality, a glamour that makes you think of Cleopatra or Helen of Troy. Personally, I really dig the “Narissa” cuff at alexwoo.com. For a more modern take on this trend, I like the earrings by Judy Geib, available at Barneys New York. Their assymmetry gives makes them more MoMA than Met, proving that this trend can please people at any end of the spectrum. For a look even your grandmother will appreciate, go for the earrings by Julie Baker. The peacock design is classically beautiful, and will make any woman feel like royalty. Love, Noelle.

Allison wanted to know what’s the latest trend in jewelry. Now that Memorial Day has passed, its time for the latest white trend : the white watch. Anyone who is anyone is wearing a white watch this summer. Nothing will make their tan glow quite as much as the contrast of a white watch. If you add diamonds you have the perfect recipe for this summer’s bliss. People are buying anyhting; Fossil, Timex and even Dior. My favourite, not that I could afford it even with my employee discount, is the Technomarine. I don’t see much in print for Technomarine, but all things being equal I would rather have a White Ceramique Technomarine with diamonds than anything else. If you go for it get the unisex size; I love the European look with bold, large watches. Noelle
