As pet owners, we all want the very best for our four legged friends including quality ingredients in their dog food, after all they don’t get to choose what they eat, we do! The FDA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have just released a massive recall of more than 125 products which includes several brands of dog food products like Grreat Choice, Parnell’s Pride and several PetSmart dog biscuits. The recall started because of a deadly salmonella outbreak which has linked each of these products that are being recalled to peanut butter used in processed foods.
According to the FDA, the risk to animals is minimal but absolutely still possible, which means we as pooch parents should take all precautions to prevent any sickness. If your canine should suffer from a fever or vomiting, it is suggested that you contact your local veterinarian to prevent any further illness. It’s also a good preventative measure to stop using any of the products listed below immediately.

[Slate] Who doesn’t want a furry dog to wake you up in the morning, help you stay healthy with long walks, and chew up your precious Jimmy Choo’s? Not everyone has time, and luckily for them, modern technology has allowed robotic animatronic pets to grace the homes of those who prefer less responsibility. [Slate]

With the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama just days away, millions of pooch loving Americans are all anxiously awaiting the arrival of the all important White House pup! Since the announcement back on November 5th, Americans have been casting their vote on the AKC poll www.presidentialpup.com to weigh in on their choice for the perfect hypoallergenic breed to join the first family. (Does the thought of dog hair all over your ultra fab wardrobe make you want to scream? Hypoallergenic dogs are your answered prayers!)
After considering several dogs, it’s been narrowed down to two finals breeds: The Portuguese Water Dog or the Labradoodle, a popular mix between the all American Labrador and the regal Poodle. Before you cast your final vote for America’s future first pooch, read below about the two remaining candidates.
With a curly soft coat, the labradoodle is a medium sized dog that has an incredibly loving and fun personality that is easy to fall head over heels with. Great for a family pet, this breed can be very high energy and loves to run around, perfect for the never-ending White House Lawn.
Although a rare breed, the Portuguese Water Dog is a hard working canine that still knows how to let loose and run around when the job is complete. Perfect for the Obama’s, this four-legged friend has tons of curly hair, but doesn’t shed! These dogs are always willing to curl up and snuggle, but they definitely need lots of exercise and attention.
