Blue nail polish is making a comeback, in a re-tooled format. It’s the high fashion go-to color for nails, or so says Chanel. They’ve just released the daring new Blue Satin Nail Polish (Neimanmarcus.com and Chanel.com have already sold out. Your best bet to score a bottle of this might be eBay) for Spring 08.

When I was starting out my high school day’s a sky blue nail polish by Hard Candy was very much the rage. It was the most coveted look by every girl who wanted to be fashionable. But it eventually faded away from the hallways, and I haven’t seen too much blue nail polish since then. But this trend looks like it’ll be here for a bit, so why not hop on it and try out a blue polish? I suggest keeper the darker nail polishes on shorter nails. The dark colors will be nice for glam looks, but the light blues can be very pretty for a nice airy spring look.

So you want to get some blue on your nails?

Other Blue Nail Polish Choices:

All available from Calibex.com, unless otherwise noted.

Essie has a bright tropical blue called Aruba Blue ($4.80). That is the one that is closest to Chanel’s Blue Satin. They also offer a dazzling light blue with tons of shine called Barbados Blue ($4.98). If you’re looking for a paler blue, try Blueberry Crumb ($4.80). There is also St. Barths Blue ($4.80) which is a milkier, softer blue than Blueberry Crumb.

OPI has a blue called Russian Navy ($5.45). OPI in Ink ($5.49) is also nice and dark, and has more of a glittery look to it. OPI in Blue My Mind ($5.45) is an electric sort of blue, sure to draw attention to your hands.

Revlon’s Dark Pleasures
collection features Midnight Affair which reminds me of OPI’s Blue My Mind, and Patent Leather which is a deep indigo color that looks like Chanel’s Blue Satin. (Cannot find them for sale online, eBay may be your only hope for these ones.) This is a good inexpensive brand for polish.

Wet n’ Wild has the shiny Bijou Blue. This is a good inexpensive brand that will look nice, just remember to apply a top coat or it will chip too soon. It’s under a dollar at Walgreens.com.

Have fun if you try this look.

Ciao for now,

Jessica
