Blue Eye Shadow - Do you Dare?
, New York, NY

Blue is the color that is most coveted right now by stylists. I’ve already talked to you about blue nail polish. Now I want to focus on the eyes, specifically, eye shadow.
My first instinct about blue eye shadow is to run – run far away. Images of looking like an old woman who never updated her makeup flash through my mind. And as I cringe and grasp my diet coke, I know that I never want to be like that. But, blue is back. And with the new colors from our favorite beloved brands you can rest assured that you’ll never look stale, only pretty and fresh.
The ME Blue eyeshadow from shu uemura (#1) looks intimidating to me. But from people I’ve talked to, you just have to give it a try because it’s not as dramatic as you fear. The color reminds me of a deep ocean blue color. When I was younger and I was told I could be ‘anything’ I wanted, I took it very literally. I had two choices: a mermaid princess, or a unicorn princess (definitely a princess of some sort). Well, if I ever feel like being a mermaid princess in the future, I’ll apply this shadow. I would line it underneath my lashline, as well as applying it to my lids. You can buy it for $20.00 at Sephora.com.
I really want to try a Yves Saint Laurent eyeshadow because I’ve heard that they are super silky to apply. It seems like now would be the perfect time to try a Ombre Duolumieres Eyeshadow Duo, in the color of Stormy Mauve/Night Blue (#2). You could use both colors at once, or have the option of using just one of the blue hues at a time. You can buy it for $39.50 at Bloomingdales.com.
Clinique is a brand I am always loyal to because I grew up using it. My Mom has always bought so much of it that I’ve gotten to try a lot of their products. For a blue eye shadow, I recommend the Color Surge Eye Shadow Super Shimmer(#3) in either Blue Lagoon or Cornflower Blue. The shimmer makes it special, put it on lightly for a sheer look. You can buy either one for $13.50 at Sephora.com.
Ciao for now,
Jessica
