Blouses on Sale

To follow-up the piece I wrote last week about some great office shoes on sale, today I’m focusing on blouses. Blouses can be great for the office, but not just there. Blouses are dressy but they can have an aura of cool and effortless style that I admire in celebrities like Kate Hudson.

This BCBG Max Azria Empire Waist Smocked Top from bloomingdales can be worn for brunch, out to shop, your office – almost anywhere (unless you regularly go on hikes in mountains). It has a very conservative cut, but the bright color and the empire waist action with those pleats make this fun. (Sale – $123.99)

Again, we have a fun concept with this blouse from J-Crew. The Tangiers-Print Phoebe Blouse has a great U-neckline with ruffles. (Sale – $49.99) You can get it in black or red (Bright Flame). My sister, Meghan, is a fine arts major and I can definitely seeing her wearing the Bright Flame version of this blouse out on the town, or for an art reception. Paired with some black pants, black shoes (heels, wedges, flats – any!) and some fun earrings – this would be such a cute outfit.

Sheer things are big right now, so it’s a pleasant surprise to find this Juicy Couture Silk Chiffon Blouse and Tank on sale from bloomingdales. (Sale – Blouse: $76.80, Tank: $44.60) My friend Kristin is a poet pursuing both an English and French degree in college – and if I could make her wear pink (I imagine rope and candy for bribery would be handy), I bet she’d love this.
