Black & Blue
, New York, NY

I think it’s pretty safe to say that most of us, when we first started to apply our own makeup stuck to your basic black eye liner. And I know now years after I first put pencil to eye, I haven’t really strayed from my good old black liner. But this season, black is boring. One of the easiest ways to transition into warmer weather is by using warmer colors on your eyes. Now that doesn’t just mean using a peachy color on your lid, it means trading the black eye liner for purple, or navy blue or even white. Not to mention, changing your eye liner color is super cheap. There’s no reason to spend $30 on eyeliner. There are some great drug store brands that do the exact same job.
Sephora has their own brand of make-up that is actually pretty affordable. And this basic slim pencil was voted Best of 2007 by Sephora. Now whether they’re tooting their own horn or it’s actually pretty amazing, is for you to decide. But for a sticker price ranging from $1-4 for a selection of over 30 different colors, I think we can all afford to pick up a few new colors to try out.
If you’re a little reluctant to try out Sephora’s brand of make-up products, (though when I was in Europe I swore by them) then there are some great options available at Bloomingdale’s. Laura Mercier‘s brand of liquid eyeliner comes in the most adorable and unconventional packages I’ve seen recently and comes in four great colors that aren’t black. It’s $22 which I think might even be worth it because of the cute bottle that reminds me more of nail polish than eyeliner.
Have fun looking for funky new colors!
