Black and White Gets a Revamp

I don’t know when a black and white combo has ever been out of style, but the votes are unanimously in – and right now that combo is white hot (pun is totally intended). This is one trend that you can invest in now, and can wear years later. Black and white brings easy balance to an outfit, as well as a nice measure of drama. These colors always lend an air of polish to an outfit, and they’re easy to mix and match, as well as accessorize. That’s probably why New Yorkers consider black part of the standard uniform. If you’re looking for something just a tad new, try adding a dash of white.

1.AK Anne Klein Q Print Tie Front Bubble Sleeve Blouse from bloomingdales ($89.00). When you have to work in a stuffy office during the summer, this seems like a nice solution to stay work-appropriate but also harness this chic trend.

2. INC International Concepts® Printed Dress with Banded Hem from Macys ($79.00). This dress looks so fun, I recommend taking a cue from the model here and pairing it with a tall pair of strappy sandals in a bright, unexpected color. I had no idea that looking a bit like a dalmatian could be so stylish! Can I have 101 dresses?

3.Adrienne Landau Cropped Zebra Jacket from Saks ($425.00). Doubling up on trends can be bad, but in the case of this safari-inspired black and white jacket, I feel in my soul, there is only good to be had in wearing it! I hope my soul hasn’t started lying, that would be troublesome.

4. Bailey 44 Expressionist Skirt ($108.00) from Nordstrom. Need a basic black skirt? I say skip the basic, what fun is that? Try this. I have no idea why it’s $108.00 instead of just $100.00 or $110.00 – but you won’t mind those extra eight dollars when you realize the utter cuteness the tiny ruffles give this otherwise formal skirt.

I’m sold, what about you? Whether you’re 20 or 40, you can pull this off, so get shopping.
Here’s to living in sublime style,

Jessica Rae
